Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma: The Other Side of This Starstruck Couple That Might Surprise You

Because of their recent marriage, celebrity status, and successful career, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are the top trending couple of the day. The coverage has been a wild ride for everyone involved.

But, there’s a flipside to Virushka that isn’t widely known: that they are also among the wealthiest, most powerful business couples in India, with over ten organizations under their belt collectively.

Virat Kohli has founded and invested in over seven startups. In only three years, he became a millionaire through these companies.

Anushka Sharma is no slouch, either. She owns a film production/distribution company and a clothing brand.  Entrepreneur recognized her extraordinary achievements by featuring her in their March 2017 issue as ‘Cover Girl’, under the title ‘Shepreneurs – Women to Watch’.

Ladies first.

Clean Slate Films

Anushka Sharma founded film production and distribution company Clean Slate Films in 2014. NH10 was the first film that she produced under this banner in 2015. Currently, the company makes ad films and commercials for corporates.

Nush

Anushka launched her second venture titled Nush in September 2017. This clothing brand offers casual western fashion wears for Indian women.

Virat Kohli’s Business Ventures

WROGN

Kohli started his entrepreneurial journey with the launch of clothing and accessory brand Wrogn. The company has a tie-up with Shopper’s Stop and Myntra and currently sells across the country through more than 75 offline retail outlets.

FC Goa

At the age of 25, Virat Kohli made his first investment in the Indian Super League club FC Goa, becoming its co-owner.

Sport Convo

In 2014, Virat invested in a London-based social media startup called Sport Convo, a company that connects sport’s biggest stars with fans.

Chisel

After Wrogn, Kohli invested around Rs 90 crore to launch gym and fitness center chain Chisel in 2015. It’s a joint venture between Kohli, Chisel Fitness and CSE, the flagship venture of Cornerstone Sport & Entertainment, an agency that manages ‘Brand Virat Kohli’.

ITPL UAE Royals and Pro Wresting League Franchise Bengaluru Yodhas

Virat also dipped his hands in two sports ventures as co-owner – ITPL UAE Royals and PWL Bengaluru Yodhas in 2015. ITPL UAE Royal is a Dubai-based tennis team led by legendary tennis player Roger Federer. Bengaluru Yodhas is a wrestling team in the Pro Wrestling League.

Stepathlon Kids

In 2016, Virat invested in the fitness segment again and launched Stepathlon Kids, a joint venture with Stepathlon Lifestyle. The company seeks to tackle fitness issues affecting kids by taking them through a 30-day, pedometer-based virtual race meant to increase awareness on health issues.

FanBox

In April 2016, with the help of Singapore-based startup PrivyPlex, Virat launched Virat Kohli Fanbox in order to engage with his fans.

This bundle includes a customized version of the Motorola Moto G Turbo edition smartphone, customized with the following: Virat’s emblem on the back, a welcome note from Virat and a miniature bat that he designed himself. It also comes pre-loaded with the FanBox app, along with a one-year membership to the fan club.

Nueva

Following the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan, Virat launched a restaurant called ‘Nueva’ in 2017 at R K Puram, New Delhi. It serves European, South American and Peruvian dishes.

What’s Next? Will they Start a Business Together?

There have been plenty of rumors spreading around about whether the couple is considering a joint business venture. Anushka has denied this, but who knows? Until something real surfaces, all we can do is watch and wait.
